Concerts On Carter Creek
What I did
Arrived early to help with set up of the reception and portion out foods and set them out as well. Then greeted attendees as they arrived and passed out programs before the start of the event. During intermission we directed people towards the bathroom. Before the concert ended, the volunteers headed to get ready for the reception. We served punch and made sure food supplies did not run low and conversed with attendees. Lastly, we helped with take down and made sure all dishes used were clean.
What I Learned
This event taught me how important it is to take care of your volunteers. The entire time I was there I felt cared for, and that if I needed help it would be there for me.
Purpose
The purpose of this event is to bring music of all genres to the Bryan College Station area.

Trunk or Treat
What I did
Arrived an hour early to create and decorate my trunk space. Conversated and met the other volunteers beside me and helped in making sure everyone was ready for kids to arrive and the signs to the bathrooms were visible. We then got to interact with kids and pass out Halloween candy until the end of the event. Clean up for this event was almost too easy as all one did was close their trunk. I decided to donate the rest of my candy to the church for them to use for future needs.
What I learned
I learned from this event how much it means to have dedicated volunteers and how important they are. The event would not have been nearly as fun and enjoyable for the kids had our individual decorations not as elaborate as they were so it is important to have people who care.

Purpose
The Purpose of this event was to provide a safe, fun, trick or treating environment for local kids different than door to door.

Via Colori
What I did
Arrived 30 minutes before the shift began to get checked in and change into my volunteer t shirt. Then was directed to where I was stationed at the check in, gate 1 entrance of Via Colori. At first I just checked attendees wristbands, and handed out fun balloons to children entering the event. Then I was moved to ticket purchases and gave wristbands and brochures to those buying tickets. I also got to get to know others who I volunteered with, two of which who are youth ministers who work with The Center for Hearing and Speech which was a really cool experience. My shift ended before take down was necessary.
What I learned
This event taught me the importance of having someone to direct volunteers and even attendees from their parking to the event and where they are supposed to be stationed. Without direction I would have been sort of lost on how to get to my exact tent from where they had us park so direction was my most important takeaway.

Purpose
The Purpose of this event was to showcase art in the Houston Area and provide education on local art to participants.

TAI
What I did
I arrived at 6 am to begin set up and making sure all classrooms were ready with the correct supplies in them for the presenters. I also worked the registration table which involved checking students in via Tamu ID and giving them instructions for the day and the supplies they need. I think helped serve lunch, clean up, and then assist in total cleanup and lock up at the end of the night.
What I learned
I learned it is important to wear layers for busy and down times during a day long event. I also learned the importance of being able to direct volunteers and being sure to be prepared to give them specific instructions on what to do and how to help out. Not all people will have a willing to help out wherever attitude like I did and will need instruction otherwise they will be left feeling helpless or just sitting around instead of contributing.
Purpose
The Purpose of this event was to organize training for TA'S on Texas A&M's campus.

SWV Carnival
What I did
I was able to sign up for this event on sign up genius and pick ahead of time the station in which I would be at. I was with two other TAMU students and was in charge of directing this "game station" and running each round of the games. Some students for this event came unsupervised so we were also in charge of maintaining order between the kids and making sure things were running smoothly. Once the event was over we then assisted in take down of the event which consisted of cleaning the entire elementary school.
What I learned
I learned a great deal from this on the "customer service" aspect of event management. We dealt with a lot of youth's parents and how to run the game fairly between each kids though there were great age gaps. Again I learned the importance of truly having good volunteers as we were all so willing to stay late to tear everything down and get it to where it needed to go in order for their school day to run smoothly the next day.

Purpose
The Purpose of this event was to provide a fun family activity while also fundraising for the students and school members of Southwood Valley.

Career Fair
What I did
As a volunteer I was put in charge of checking in on each and every company/camp that was present at the career fair. I got them water, snacks, and helped them clean up their booths as I was the last shift of the day. Then, all volunteers left helped clean up the food area and we were each took loads of coolers, paper plates, and other food items to the garage located near the MSC in order to help with transportation and clean up.
What I learned
From this event experience I learned just how much it means to send something home with your volunteers. I was so appreciative to have been given a boxed lunch as it had been a long hot day! Volunteers were also given the opportunity to take advantage of the headshot company they had at this event and I have mine pictured to the right. This was again another great example of what I learned on how to make your volunteers feel appreciated.

Purpose
The Purpose of this event was to bring in recruiters for RPTS majors to hopefully learn about their future feild and possibly receive an interview.

Kite Fest - Cancelled
What I did
This event was an event I was in charge of for my RPTS 321 course. My group was the planning team and we were so excited to make this all happen. Due to COVID19 we had to move to a virtual event and create new ways to bring the community together. We did a week long event where each day a new craft or activity was posted and we encouraged all participants to post their results. While we were disappointed in having all of our hard work for our in person event go to waste, we found so many positives in the virtual event.
What I learned
I learned the importance of marketing and staying on schedule for this virtual event and transitioning into the virtual event. Before spring break, we almost jumped the gun and paid a few of our non refundable deposits but we decided to wait and stay on track to do that after we were back. We saved around 800$ by doing so. For the marketing importance, I learned that we should have maintained the same Facebook page when switching to a virtual event because we did lose around 50% of our original participants.
Purpose
The Purpose of this event was to bring the BCS community together through color and art.
